On the amphibious operation on Rendova Island. Under Sec. of War Patterson introduces the film. Gen. Mac Arthur and Adm. Halsey plan the operation. Troops land beneath a naval bombardment and advance inland through the muddy jungle. Bulldozers clear roads and pull 155 mm guns into the jungle. Artillery shells neighboring Munda Island. Japanese dive bombers strike a munitions dump. Dead and wounded U.S. troops are removed. Emphasizes the cost in men and materiel.
